THE BIRTH OF A WEBSITE

Scott and Chuck's Detective Work

Crosley Field was a landmark in Cincinnati. Everyone knew where it was located, and had probably been there on more than one occasion. Then in 1972, they tore her down and began developing the land for commerce.
Nearly fourty years later, without a guide, it is truly impossible to see where she once proudly stood. There is even a new road right through the middle of the field!
Two years ago, a young friend of mine, Scott Berliner, who is a complete Reds fanatic, asked me, "So where exactly was Crosley Field?" Amazed at first, I then realized that he wasn't even born when the last game was played at Crosley. I told him I would show him and off we headed to Findlay & Western, camera in hand, in search of the bounderies of Crosley.
When we first arrived it was a bit confusing. There was no room for a ballpark here! There wasn't a block big enough to fit a ballpark in. After some contemplation, we came to the realization that the roads had been changed since Crosley was here. Western Avenue running south had been chopped off just north of York Street. It was now parking lots south of York almost down to Findlay. Below that it became part of the Western Avenue exit ramp from I-75 south. Dalton Street had been extended north of Findlay Street to meet York and continued into what was once Western. This extension went right through the middle of what was once Crosley Field.

How confusing! Scott suggested that the internet was the place to clear this up for the world. Scott and I took some photos, paced off dimensions, calculated angles, and "Where's Crosley Now?" was born.
